Matthew is an industry disruptor. He has co-founded, built and grown several world-first technology businesses. He has decades of experience building technology companies. He is an EHF Fellow and Industry Innovation Judge with decades of experience building socio-technical systems and cultures.
Matthew is an authority on disruption and how chaos creates transformational change quickly.
The collapse of the biosphere has changed the predictability of work, which will only increase in the next few years.
Organisations are looking to understand the new normal and are therefore not taking advantage of the pace of change. Matthew reframes risk in a way that enables you to move your innovation initiatives forward faster and become adaptable to embrace uncertainty.
A black swan event describes an event that comes as a surprise and significantly affects a business and industry. Antifragile systems can withstand outlier events & chaos, and they will survive; some will benefit & make exponential gains; a mindset shift is required.
Current organisational hierarchies & decision-making frameworks aren’t suitable for the current pace of change, because Matthew has been the cause of industry disruption he understands how to respond to such events.
The key to surviving a black swan event is to change how you work: Act, Sense, and Respond. Contact Matthew if you need help reorienting your company to ride the wave of disruption & create new intellectual property that positions your company for future growth.

About Matthew
Matthew helped grow Bypass into an international company. They caused convergence to accelerate in New Zealand with a world-first product called Global Mode™ that brought Netflix to 285,000 New Zealanders early. Google it. In 2015, after they were sued by every media company in New Zealand, which the studios in California funded, the company pivoted to protecting kids online using the same underlying technology. In less than 18 months, the reinvented platform was integrated into 20,000,000 internet connections in India, Nepal and Bangladesh to help parents keep their kids safe by preventing inappropriate content and facilitating timely access.
In 2013, Matthew co-founded and raised $1.4M in capital from investors for Doctor2Go, New Zealand’s first medical marketplace of nurses, doctors, mental health practitioners, and pharmacies with whom you could connect via video conferencing. It was the first decentralised medical service in the world. The medical team could send a script to your nearest pharmacy or arrange for a pharmacist to deliver the medication to your home or office. The service was available directly to consumers via iOS and Android as a health insurance add-on or employment benefit.
Matthew was accepted into the Edmund Hillary Fellowship as a high-impact entrepreneur. After successfully exiting Bypass and Doctor2Go, he spent nine months developing commercial models for start-ups in IoT, the sharing economy and circular systems. His clients included Fonterra and Chorus. He is the co-founder of a Bioenergy Company.
